    KEY TAKEAWAYS:

    • India plays three T20Is in Zimbabwe from July 23 to July 26, 2026.

    • All matches take place at the Harare Sports Club starting at 4:30 p.m. IST.

    • Vaibhav Sooryavanshi returns as India looks to end a six-match losing streak.

India seek first T20I win since World Cup triumph

India travels to Harare for a three-match T20I series carrying an unwanted record, having failed to win a single game in the format since being crowned T20 World Cup champions in March, a run that now stretches to six straight defeats.

Those losses came in Ireland and England, where Shreyas Iyer’s side were swept 2-0 and then whitewashed 4-0, costing India their world No. 1 T20I ranking and prompting serious questions about the direction of the team.

Zimbabwe therefore offers a chance to reset. India arrives with a young, heavily rotated squad designed to test bench strength, with several senior players rested and two uncapped names in line for debuts.

    Squad news as Sooryavanshi returns

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi retains his place after a difficult introduction to international cricket, having managed just 42 runs in three innings against England before being dropped for the series finale at Southampton in favour of Sanju Samson.

Samson has been rested for this tour, meaning the 15-year-old is expected to open alongside Abhishek Sharma. Rinku Singh returns to the setup for the first time since the T20 World Cup, while Mayank Yadav is back after last playing for India in late 2024.

Yash Thakur and Ashok Sharma have earned maiden call-ups, and Harsh Dubey and Prabhsimran Singh will hope for debuts. Ravi Bishnoi came into the squad as a replacement for Varun Chakaravarthy, who was ruled out with a hamstring injury sustained against England.

Zimbabwe are led by Sikandar Raza and will fancy their chances in home conditions, with Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, and Brian Bennett among the more familiar names in a settled home squad.
