Director H Vinoth is among the very few filmmakers who have worked with both Vijay and Ajith Kumar. The two stars have established a massive fan following across Tamil Nadu and India, and are known for their mass commercial entertainers. However, the actors are very similar when it comes to script selection, especially Vijay who insists on a strong story and a character that suits him.
In an interview with Puthiya Thalaimurai,H Vinoth shared what makes Vijay say no to a film. “Both them keep the controls of decision making with themselves. The process alone differs. Vijay gives massive importance to the content of the script. He is very direct about whether a script fits his persona or brand; If he feels he cannot to justice to a story, even if it’s a “superb” script, he will decline it because it doesn’t align with his comfort zone.” He also went on to reveal an instance where the actor-turned-Chief Minister declined a recent hit film’s script.
Vinoth described Ajith’s process as fundamentally different as he focuses on building a “visionary and disciplined team”, believing that a strong, capable team is what ultimately produces high quality content. Further Vinoth mentioned that the duo provide their directors with all the freedom once they sign a project.
Vinoth’s latest release Jana Nayaganis CM Vijay’s swansong. The film is being celebrated in theatres worldwide and has been generating significant revenue since its release on July 23. According to reports, the actioner has grossed approximately Rs 260.25 crore worldwide and crossed Rs 150.25 crore in India net collections after eight days in theaters.
A partial remake of 2023 National Award-winning Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, headlined by Nandamuri Balakrishna, Jana Nayagan boasts a star-studded ensemble featuring Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, and Bobby Deol, alongside Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani.
