‘300 is the gayest movie he ever made,’ says Zack Snyder
Zack Snyder adds that his remarks about ‘300’ are in jest

Zack Snyder’s body of work often draws divisive reactions, especially online. He even acknowledged this, saying his iconic 300movie was one of them.
In an interview with Variety, the filmmaker said he believed people have pre-existing feelings about his movies, which, in turn, shape their views of his filmography.
Using 300as an example, Snyder recalled, “When we showed ‘300’ at the Berlin Film Festival, this same thing happened.”
“There was immediate discourse around the movie, and everyone booed and walked out,” the director remembered.
Those present at the festival, Snyder recounted, called for attributing every negative term to 300under the sun.
“It was our first time showing the movie, and we were like, ‘What the f***.’ They were saying it was a disaster, the worst movie ever and a fascist movie.”
Then, theJustice League director said he was fielded questions such as, “Are you a fascist filmmaker?”
Then another reporter asked him, “Are you pro-gay or pro-NRA? Which are you?”
“And I said, ‘Look, I’ll be honest: I’m a tiny bit of both.'” But obviously I’m pro-gay. I made the gayest movie ever made,” he quipped, referring to the 300.
After those responses, Varietyasked Snyder, “You think “300” is the gayest movie ever made?”
Snyder responded, “300 is one of the gayest movies ever made. I always go, “Look, there are few movies where people come in straight and come out gay, and ‘300’ is one of them.”
300, released in 2006, is one of <a href="https://cinemamix360.com/2026/09/15/one-hundred-years-of-jewish-films-between-the-shtetl-and-hollywood-uje/” title=”One hundred years of Jewish films — between the Shtetl and Hollywood – UJE”>Hollywood‘s most visually striking movies.
