Daddy’s Home
It was previously reported that Tommy Lee Jones would be making a rare TV appearance in this next season of FX’s The Lowdown. It was not yet known who Jones would be playing, but now we see he and Ethan Hawke mix it up as father and son. This will mark Lee’s first TV series in decades. He also appeared in episodes of Charlie’s Angels, Baretta, Barnaby Jones, and played Dr. Mark Toland in One Life to Live, one of his first major roles.
The Lowdown Season 2
FX has just released the trailer for season 2 of The Lowdown, which you can check out in the embed above. The trailer is narrated by the delightful deep pipes of Keith David, who appears in this season with Hawke, Betty Gilpin and Tommy Lee Jones.
The official synopsis reads,
“The Lowdown is created by Sterlin Harjo, who executive produces with Garrett Basch, Ethan Hawke, Ryan Hawke, Duffy Boudreau and Scott Teems. The Lowdown is produced by FX Productions with all episodes currently available to stream on Hulu.
FX’s The Lowdown follows the gritty exploits of citizen journalist Lee Raybon (Hawke), a self-proclaimed Tulsa ‘truthstorian’ whose obsession with the truth is always getting him into trouble. While Lee’s no idealist, he’s fiercely committed to exposing corruption and unearthing the city’s hidden rot, even when it puts him at risk.
In season one, the publication of Lee’s latest exposé – a deep dive into the powerful Washberg family – is immediately followed by the suspicious suicide of Dale Washberg, and Lee knows he’s stumbled onto something big. Following a trail of breadcrumbs Dale has left behind, urging someone to dig deeper into the circumstances surrounding his death, Lee does just that. The first season also starred Keith David and featured guest stars Kyle MacLachlan, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Tim Blake Nelson, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Michael “Killer Mike” Render, Kaniehtiio Horn, Tracy Letts, Peter Dinklage and the late, great Graham Greene.”
What Did We Think of The Lowdown season one?
Our own Alex Maidy enjoyed the first season, saying it was “probably the closest we will come to a worthy successor toThe Big Lebowski.“ He added that the series features, “A great cast of characters, led by Ethan Hawke in one of the best performances of his career, [and] is amplified by the unique Tulsa setting that turns this from just another mystery limited series into a tale worthy of getting lost in.” You can check out the rest of his review right here.
