Pakistan vs Sri Lanka T20I series 2026: Preview
Pakistan host Sri Lanka in the first of three T20Is at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Friday, October 9.
They have made Sahibzada Farhan their T20I captain, after he led the team at the Asian Games. The right-handed batter had a strong 2026 T20 World Cup, and plenty will be expected of him with the bat as well as with the armband.
He won’t be short of support. Experienced hands like Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan and Naseem Shah are all around him, which gives the side a good mix of batting power and bowling skill.
Sri Lanka will be led by Kusal Mendis. The wicketkeeper-batter was in excellent touch on the team’s recent tour of England, and he’ll be one of the visitors’ most important players. If he gets going early, Sri Lanka’s chances of a decent total or a successful chase go up considerably.
Batters usually enjoy playing their shots in Rawalpindi, so another high-scoring game wouldn’t surprise anyone.
