Full-frame autofocus lenses for $149: Sirui introduces Swift series

Sirui’s latest lens series aims to stand out primarily through excellent value for money. Both lenses in the series support full-frame sensors and autofocus, yet cost just $149. Sirui offers a choice of a 20 mm f/2.4 or a 40 mm f/2.2 lens, which provide full-frame-equivalent focal lengths of 30 mm and 60 mm, respectively, on the APS-C sensors of the Fujifilm X series.

Weighing just over 200 grams, the lenses feature aperture and focus rings as well as a customizable function button. A dedicated slider allows users to switch between autofocus and manual focus at any time. A 58 mm thread allows standard filters to be screwed onto the lenses. A lens hood is included. Both lenses are weather-resistant and come with a three-year warranty.

Considering the price, the optical design is surprisingly complex, as Sirui uses eleven elements in both models, including one or two elements with aspherical surfaces and several ED elements. The result should be sharp images right into the corners, as the manufacturer’s MTF curves also promise. However, the sample photos on the official product page suggest clearly visible vignetting, relatively low contrast and somewhat busy bokeh.

    Pricing and availability

The Sirui Swift series is now available on Amazon. The Sirui Swift 20 mm f/2.4 and Swift 40 mm f/2.2 each cost $149, and both lenses are available with a choice of Sony E, Leica L or Fujifilm X mounts. The lenses cover full-frame sensors.
