EXCLUSIVE: Screen can unveil the first trailer for Iranian filmmaker Ali Asgari’s A Bit Of Light (Kami Nour), ahead of its world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival on Friday (September 11).

In Asgari’s sixth feature set in contemporary Iran, The Seed Of The Sacred Figstar Misagh Zareh plays a disillusioned doctor who loses faith in the future after being arrested and having his medical practice shut down. Determined to end his life, he sets out to spend what he intends to be his final day visiting his siblings and mother whose compassion and companionship reconnect him with reality.

Zareh stars alongside Sadaf Asgari, Forouzan Jamshidnejad, Ramtin Daghigh and Mina Rahimzadeh. Asgari co-wrote the screenplay with Shadmehr Rastin.

A Bit Of Light marks Asgari’s first film in Venice’s main competition, after Divine Comedy played in Horizons in 2025 and Disappearance screened in the same section in 2017. His previous credits also include Berlin 2022 title Until Tomorrow, Cannes Un Certain Regard 2023 selection Terrestrial Verses and IDFA 2024 title Higher Than Acidic Clouds.

The Iran-Switzerland-Italy-Canada-Türkiye co-production is produced by Iran’s Seven Springs Pictures alongside Sunny Independent Pictures, Zoe Films, Good Measure Productions and Haurvatat Film, with MeMo Films and Salt for Sugar Films also among the production partners.

Paris and Berlin-based Salaud Morisset is handling international sales. Haut et Court has acquired French rights, while TeodoraFilm Distribuzione is releasing the film in Italy. Other previously announced deals include Spain (La Aventura Cine), Switzerland (Trigon Film), Benelux (September Film Distribution), Bulgaria (Beta Film Ltd.), and Greece (Filmtrade), and Brazil (Imovision).
