Marvel Studios’ upcoming animated series, Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Manthe story takes place before 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, but with one obvious key difference.

“Norman Osborn didn’t go back to his apartment to meet Tony Stark, but was chatting with his Aunt May when he walked in the door.

“Just as meeting Tony thrust Peter into the spotlight he needed to be more than a kid, Peter has Norman as his mentor, sending his life into an unexpected trajectory that connects him with many unexpected characters in the Marvel Universe. Unexpected characters collide.

Marvel Comics has now announced that the series will be getting a prequel tie-in comic. This will be a five-issue limited series written by: Christopher Gage And by Eric Gapst.

The story will introduce readers to a young Peter Parker and his supporting cast, as well as some of Spider-Man’s legendary villains. The comic series is said to “introduce some amazing adventures set in Peter’s early days as Spider-Man in this highly anticipated animated series.”

In Marvel Animation’s Friendly Neighbor Spider-Man, “Peter Parker is becoming a hero, and his journey is unlike anything we’ve seen before, in a style that reflects the character’s earliest comic book roots.

“In this new comic series, you can take his first steps with him as he discovers his powers, decides to become a hero, and even picks his name and costume! Now, Peter must fight as a crime-fighter A rookie vigilante spends his entire freshman year…and if you think you know how this story goes, you’re in for a surprise!

“I’ve had the privilege of writing many of Spider-Man’s adventures in comics and Insomniac video games, but one thing I never had the opportunity to do was retell his earliest exploits,” Gage said in a statement.

“The exciting part about this book is it’s a fresh take on those formative years. While this is definitely the Peter Parker, the Spider-Man we know and love, he’s joined by a new cast of supporting characters – including ones you might be familiar with Meet Nicomin in “The Escape”—and some surprising twists and turns!”

Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man #1 will be released on December 11th. See a few pieces of cover art below.
